LIFSOR MR SRL announces the introduction of smart lifting cable inspection into its range of services, using magneto-inductive detectors. This represents a much more modern and efficient control method, and simultaneously one that protects the operators who perform the inspection. Aside from being periodically required by law, we know that a well-done inspection is extremely important, as a damaged or worn cable can endanger the safety of both people and goods. Even though cases of these cables breaking are rare, it’s advisable to constantly monitor their condition and to replace a cable showing signs of wear when necessary.
Through these new devices, LIFSOR MR SRL achieves safe, reliable, and objective control of cable integrity by highlighting the presence of broken wires, both internal and external. At the same time, with their help, our operators can inspect and detect signs of wear and corrosion, in accordance with the UNI ISO 4309 standard, and they are also certified according to EN 12927-8.
This type of smart inspection guarantees a higher level of safety in equipment operation, as the operator can see the exact degree of wear and recommend replacement only when necessary. It’s increasingly evident that in the future, inspection devices of this type will replace the visual inspection of metallic cables in various branches of our sector, because they offer increased assurance as well as an archived history of the inspections performed. For example, the detection unit is wired and perfectly connected to a recording unit that allows us to retrieve, display, and store data, providing the operator and client with complete management and history of the inspections performed. Last but not least, the devices attach directly to the metal cables, and the cable’s condition is then transmitted to operators, who can now work remotely. This means employees performing the inspection no longer work in direct proximity to the cables, for instance at great heights or in dangerous conditions.
